Why are we doing this?

Why are we
doing this?

The Alliance for Agriculture came to be from ideas and conversations with farmers while working on the Regrow Fund for Visitrico after hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico back in September of 2017.

It was undeniable that the ecological farming sector was not in the government’s radar; it was evident that they needed to hear the sector’s collective and loud voice. The sector was at a disadvantage; for it to thrive, like any other economic sector, it needed seed economic and technical support. In order to direct resources toward projects in a consistent and sustained manner, operational and structural capacity needed to be built. We realized that in Puerto Rico only a handful of organizations had the operational focus and administrative skills required to receive an incoming flow of resources.

Experienced farmers, administrators, financiers, economists and advocacy experts have joined forces and today we have the Alliance for Agriculture Corp., a 501(c)3 non profit organization, designed as a permanent vehicle with the mission to transform the way agriculture is done in Puerto Rico.
