Agriculture
We cultivate nutrient-dense food crops and agricultural raw materials within agroforestry systems that support life through regenerative practices. Our work focuses on plant propagation, agroforestry establishment, and the management of trial crops for seed production and climate resilience. Over the years, we have also expanded our composting operations, producing scientifically tested compost tailored to the needs of our farm while making high-quality compost available to the broader community.
Education
Our educational programs cover a wide range of topics, including soil restoration, agroforestry design, regenerative tropical livestock management, nutritional product development, fermented agricultural inputs, and the production of value-added food products using safe and appropriate processing techniques. Through hands-on learning and knowledge sharing, we seek to strengthen local capacity and support the transition toward more regenerative and resilient food systems.
Conservation
Conservation is the heart and soul of our work. Our conservation ethic provides the guiding principles behind every decision we make—from long-term planning and resource management to our day-to-day operations. As a model centered on responsible stewardship of natural resources, La Botica de la Tierra prioritizes regenerative practices that protect, restore, and enhance biodiversity while strengthening the ecological resilience of our landscape.
Community
Since establishing ourselves in Cabo Rojo in 2017, serving our local community has remained our highest priority.
Our work has grown organically through relationships of trust and reciprocity with our neighbors. Listening to their needs has helped us identify meaningful ways in which La Botica de la Tierra can contribute to improving food access, strengthening resilience, and enhancing quality of life.
Our community efforts have taken many forms, including seed and produce exchanges, the distribution of tools and nutritious food following extreme weather events, sharing renewable energy resources, and organizing volunteers to assist elderly residents.
We also launched a community spay and neuter initiative that sterilized 17 community cats in 2023, helping improve the wellbeing of both animals and residents.
We are currently building a commercial community kitchen that will expand our capacity to respond to climate emergencies by preparing and distributing nutritious, regeneratively produced food—created by the community and for the community.
