The Food Hub is a tangible expression of the Alliance for Agriculture's vision: advancing human-scale food systems that are community-led and deeply rooted in the places they serve. It demonstrates that access to fresh, nutritious food, place-based education, and rural economic development are not separate efforts, but interconnected dimensions of a thriving food system.
When woven together, these elements strengthen local economies and contribute to the social and economic well-being of the families who live in and steward Puerto Rico's rural communities. Day by day, harvest after harvest, the Food Hub supports rural livelihoods, creates local economic opportunities, and reinforces food systems built on sustainability, equity, and community resilience.

How It Works
The Food Hub operates through a self-service model sustained by community trust and transparency.
Farmers and food producers bring their products directly to the market.
Each farm and food enterprise has a visible profile sharing its story, values, and agricultural or food production practices.
Every product is clearly labeled and fully traceable to the farmer or producer who created it.
Customers select their own products and complete their purchases independently, honoring the shared community agreement that sustains the market.
The community collectively cares for and maintains the Food Hub, recognizing it as a shared community asset.
